Dining table and kitchen island remodel with a wall of French doors overlooking the pasture

Ophir, CA Whole Home Remodel

Tucked in the rolling hills of Ophir, CA, this whole-home remodel transformed a dated layout into a bright, open living space built for gathering. Marksman Builders reimagined the kitchen, dining room, and living room as one connected great room, anchored by a river rock fireplace and exposed wood beam ceilings that give the home its warm, timber-frame character.

The scope of this remodel touched nearly every corner of the home. In the kitchen, we installed custom navy-blue cabinetry complete with lighted storage for the client’s Pyrex collection, dual quartzite-topped islands, and a paneled refrigerator wall, paired with a new walk-in pantry for everyday storage. The dining room and living room now flow directly into that kitchen, unified under heavy timber beams and a wall of new floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors that fill the space with natural light and views of the surrounding property.

Structurally, the project included all-new exterior siding in a soft blue-gray tone, replacement windows and doors throughout, and a rebuilt back deck with a cedar pergola — extending the living space outdoors and setting up the roofline for the home’s new solar array. Inside, a fully renovated guest bathroom features a walk-in glass tile shower and custom wood vanity, while a rebuilt staircase with a new carpet runner and custom wood railing leads up to a reworked loft, complete with a built-in wet bar tucked beneath the stairs for easy entertaining.

From the framing to the final finishes, this Ophir remodel shows what’s possible when a home is rebuilt around how a family actually wants to live — open, connected, and built to last.
